We're located in Roscommon County, heart of the northern lower Peninsula of Michigan and approximately a two and one half hour drive north of Detroit. Richfield Township encompasses 72 square miles, much of which is state land and open to the general public. The many miles of natural shoreline provides an unsurpassed backdrop for activities on Lake St. Helen.
St. Helen is located adjacent to Houghton and Higgins Lake and the south branch of the AuSable River originates at Lake St. Helen. Natural beauty abounds all year long. Spectacular colors in the fall adorn a landscape that changes into a winter wonderland with cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting and ice fishing. Spring and summer brings water-skiing and fishing on Lake St. Helen, riding the numerous ORV trails and golf at Birch Pointe Golf Club.
We hope you will visit our beautiful area, recreate with us, savor the "up north" experience and then decide to become a part of our community.
